The Barbican Base apartment
is situated right in the heart of Plymouth's historic harbour,
offering an unbeatable location
for exploring the attractions
of Plymouth. A wide range of fantastic bars and restaurants
are right on your doorstep. Yet, because of its location, set
back from the street in a private, gated courtyard, Barbican
Base offers peace and privacy
that few apartments in the area can match.
Mitre Court itself houses eight similar apartments within the
communal courtyard. Barbican Base is at the end of the mews
terrace and is the largest of the apartments and the only one

The good-sized living room provides a relaxing
and comfortable environment for the
duration of your stay. The room is furnished with high-quality
oak furniture, along with a leather sofa, arm-chair and footstool.
The sofa can be folded out to offer an additional double bed,
allowing up to four people to share the apartment. No
extra charge is made for additional
guests, and extra towels and bedding will be provided, making
this a great value
option for small families or couples who wish to share the apartment.
The spacious under-stairs cupboard (with clothes-rail), sideboard
and TV unit offer ample storage space, even if four people are
sharing the apartment. The living room includes a television,
DVD player, digital set-top box and hifi system.
DVDs can be hired free of charge
from our extensive library (please request our film list upon
booking). A selection of board games can also be provided.
The kitchen is fully-fitted
with a complete range of modern appliances and plenty of storage
cupboards. Included is a large fridge-freezer, washing machine,
oven and electric hobs, microwave and kettle. A full complement
of pots and pans, cutlery and crockery are available for those
evenings that you don't wish to eat out. A local supermarket
is less than a minutes walk from the apartment, making it easy
to stock up on food and ingredients.
The kitchen also includes a small dining area. The dining table
when pulled out can seat four people.
The bedroom is furnished with the same high-quality furniture
that has been used throughout the downstairs living area. The
double bed has been fitted with a memory-foam mattress to ensure
the highest standards of comfort.
There are small bed-side chests of drawers on either side of
the bed. The room also includes a dressing table, mirror and
stool, and a fitted wardrobe. There
is a full-length mirror on the landing at the top of the stairs.
All linen is of course provided free of charge.
The bathroom is clean and modern.
The bath includes a shower unit and the skylight provides plenty
of light. All towels are provided.
The roof garden is another of the big attractions of the apartment,
setting it apart
from many others. The sheltered space is an effective sun-trap,
making it perfect for sunbathing. For those preferring the shade
the garden table comes complete with a parasol, and can seat
four people should you wish to dine outside. A selection of
potted plants help to complete the setting and a small barbecue
is available for your use.
At the back of the property there is also a covered bike rack
(shared with the other residents of Mitre Court).
Barbican Base was assessed in July 2006 under the Quality in
Tourism assessment scheme and received a 4 star rating. Although
Plymouth Holidays no longer participates in this scheme, the
quality in the apartment has been maintained, and we are continually
working to improve these standards further. |
